Keith R. Berg, DMD
Dentist in Medford, Oregon

My profession allows me to identify and solve patients' problems and concerns. I receive a great amount of satisfaction in this process. The continual challenges of dentistry, both skill and learning, motivate me. However, the "icing on the cake" is being able to accomplish the above while in the presence of an outstanding staff and wonderful patients.

Education and Continuing Education
In my youth, I went to Medford schools before attending the University of Oregon
for my Undergraduate Degree. I then attended Oregon Health and Science University School of Dentistry.

Although my dental education is complete, I know that in order to provide the highest level of comfort and quality, I must continually educate myself on evolving methods and technologies. As a part of my continuing education, I have been president of the Southern Oregon Dental Research Group for the past 25 years. I also participate in 30 to 50 hours per year of continuing education in all phases of dentistry, with an emphasis on implants, Invisalign, cosmetics and dental medicine. It is my obligation to stay current on all phases of dentistry in order to ensure that my patients are receiving the best care possible from my practice.

Professional Info
For the past 40+ years, I have had the opportunity to interact daily with wonderful people, patients and staff. I help people attain a state of health, comfort, function and aesthetics, and in fact I've completed special training in Bioesthetic Dentistry and have achieved Level IV (highest level) certification. Providing a better quality of life for my patients is what makes my job so rewarding!

I realize that each person is an individual with unique needs and desires, and I strive to cater to each patient's unique needs. I love getting to know my patients and helping them achieve their individual goals.

I like to be able to teach patients about how to best care for their mouth. Many people do not realize that the foundation of dental health is in the gums. Find a way to consistently clean between your teeth and save them for a lifetime!

Personal
I am a native of Medford, and have lived here all my life. I love serving the people and families of my hometown community. I have two grown children, one of whom is a dentist in Pittsburgh, PA! I am also a proud grandfather of five. In my spare time, I am an oil artist and musician. I once had a bluegrass band and played banjo!

Great Snacks for Healthy Gums
Having healthy gums takes work. It doesn't just miraculously happen simply because you want it to. The way you take care of your mouth and what you eat have a significant impact on just how healthy, or unhealthy, your gums really are. If you are carefully maintaining your gum health with thorough brushing and flossing, then it is important you eat the right foods to make sure you are doing everything possible to keep your gums really healthy.

Snack Items to Regularly Consume for Healthy Gums

Produce should be your go-to snack if you want to have healthy gums. While it may not always taste as good as the sweet or starchy snacks and treats, it is far better for your body. Fruits are a great alternative if you are looking for a sweet snack, especially if you buy fruits that are in season. Also, don't forget about adding more vegetables into your diet since eating raw leafy greens and celery will help your gums stay healthy.

Ideally, you want to eat your produce with the skin on since the skin contains fiber that is beneficial to your overall health. This skin is what pushes on your gums, stimulating them to hold tight to your teeth. Plus, it scrubs off the tartar on your teeth with each bite you take.

Planning out your snacks ahead of time can help you get the healthiest mouth possible. Taking care of your gums and teeth can also help you keep your body healthier overall. To learn more about taking care of your gums, ask us at your next appointment!
